LEI is an acronym for Legal Entity Identifier. It can be used to easily identify any commercial participant in a financial transaction. It is a twenty-digit combination of letters and numbers that can be used to identify the holder without any doubt.

Each participant in a financial transaction requires an LEI number. In particular, this refers to: 1.Companies, subsidiaries and branches 2.Non-profit organizations 3.Foundations and funds 4.Government agencies and public institutions 5.Sole proprietorships
